9th Jan 2007 - Jewels in Suffolk Countryside

A small pocket of the Suffolk countryside is currently enjoying a regeneration that looks set to make two villages sought after destinations for homeowners and weekend-breakers alike.

Two ambitious renovation projects are currently underway: renowned restoration and conversion specialist, City & Country Group, is well underway with work at The Manor, Herringswell. The company is converting the original manor and its estate outbuildings to create a total of 52 stylish apartments and cottages.

The Agellus Hotels Group is in process of a major refurbishment of Tuddenham Mill, Tuddenham, creating an exceptional restaurant, set to become one of the region`s most desirable dining destinations, and a stylish 15 room boutique hotel with private dining and meeting room facilities. The sympathetic refurbishment will create a chic yet relaxed environment for diners and hotel guests and will retain the heritage and rustic charm of this historic water mill.

Tim Sargeant, Chief Executive of City & Country Group: "City & Country Group takes pride in the quality of its renovation work and it is wonderful to see this happening not only at our development, The Manor, Herringswell, but also at nearby Tuddenham Mill. Having a high quality restaurant and hotel just down the road from The Manor will be an added bonus for buyers. We hope everyone will agree that theses two properties really are jewels in Suffolk`s beautiful countryside."

The Manor is an impressive Grade II listed manor house located near Newmarket on the fringes of Suffolk village of Herringswell. Dating back to 1901, The Manor House was built in a mock Tudor style. Originally a private family home, The Manor is being refurbished into 10 striking one, two and three bedroom apartments. Each apartment will have contemporary interiors carefully designed to blend seamlessly with retained period features which include grand fireplace, original mullion windows and ornate plasterwork.

City & Country is also renovating seven outbuildings; The Coach House, Blacksmith Cottage, Farriers Cottage and The East and West Lodge, which lie in the secluded grounds of The Manor.

The Agellus Hotels Group, which also owns "The Westleton Crown"- a charming coaching inn with an award winning restaurant near Southwold, Suffolk, bought Tuddenham Mill in May 2005 and is soon to complete work to transform the historic water mill into a boutique hotel and restaurant. The Mill was built in 1775 and was an operational until 1954 when it became derelict. The hotel is scheduled to open in March 2007. For further information, visit www.tuddenhammill.co.uk

Prices at The Manor range from £245,000 for a one bedroom apartment to £600,00 for a 2,500 sq ft two bedroom apartment at front of The Manor House. The three bedroom cottages are from £395,000. Viewing is by appointment only. For further information, contact City & Country Group on telephone: 01279 818 900 or visit: www.herringswellmanor.co.uk
